The fifth-annual USA Hockey Blind Classic is taking place this week at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

According to USA Hockey blind hockey is one of six disabled hockey disciplines within the organization. All the athletes are legally blind.

Major adaptive differences include the use of a larger, hollow metal puck that can be heard as it glides across the ice, and a shorter goal vs. a standard hockey net.

The event begins Thursday, when top players will practice from 7-9pm. Tournament play will begin on Friday, Nov. 21, and take place through Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23.

Students from Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown will be attending on Friday, and take part in a meet-and-greet.
