Going green at Blank Street coffee in Wellesley Square

December 10, 2025 by Bob Brown

The future Blank Street coffee location at 61A Central St. in Wellesley Square just got a fresh coat of paint, teasing the opening of the popular chain. Blank Street has a handful of locations in the Boston/Brookline/Cambridge area, but this will be its first spot in the Boston ‘burbs

A reader who shared this photo described the paint shade as “Matcha Green.”

The Blank Street coffee shop will be in between Wasik’s and JP Licks, and across from the former Starbucks. Blank Street has been trying to open by year-end but got delayed by some grease trap drama (it wound up pairing with black & blue Steak and Crab), so the pressure is on to hit that mark.

The business has job postings online for a general manager ($65k-$75k annual salary) and barista ($16.50-$17.50 per hour plus tips).

According to Blank Street’s website, the business launched in 2020 as a coffee cart in Brooklyn.
