To the editor:
I believe that there should be accessible school supplies for adults and children. Accessible school supplies are a key essential for promoting education equity, and is great for ensuring that all students can have an equal learning experience. However, many schools lack sufficient funding, which often forces teachers to spend their own money to provide the classroom with basic materials. Also, multiple families struggle with buying and maintaining school supplies. This is an ongoing problem and highlights some key issues among the school system. People should take action in WMS because all students deserve equal opportunities to learn, and not having the basic materials can put some at a learning disadvantage. In addition, teachers shouldn’t have to use their own money or budget for school supplies because based on our research most teachers don’t get paid a lot. When we have the chance to provide an opportunity for all with a donation drive of materials, we improve students focus, they will be less stressed, and overall participation.
To support the teachers and students, we are going to hold a school supply donation drive. In response to this problem, a group of us at WMS will create bins for almost all classes so each student can be prepared for the day. You can help by donating unused pencils, pens, notebooks and other essential materials. We want every contribution, even if it is small or big to help everyone in the community.
