From Argentina to Russia: Wellesley Symphony Orchestra invites you to “Dance!”

The Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, orchestra-in-residence at MassBay Community College, will sweep audiences off their feet with a program devoted to dance on Sunday, May 10 at 2pm. Join the WSO as they dance from Argentina with Alberto Ginastera’s “Estancia” to Russia for Igor Stravinsky’s incredible ballet “Petrushka.” Along the way the WSO will waltz with two of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Four Characteristic Waltzes” (Valse bohemienne and Valse mauresque).
If you love the harp, you are in for a special treat, as harpist Emily Richardson performs Gabriel Pierné’s “Concertstück, Op. 39”, and the beloved and gorgeous “Danse sacrée et danse profane” by Claude Debussy.
Artistry for all: a “pay-what-you-can” event
In a continued effort to make professional-quality music accessible to the entire community, the WSO offers a “pay-what-you-can” ticketing model for this performance. While the orchestra suggests a donation of $30 per ticket, the priority remains opening the doors to everyone who wishes to experience the joy of live music. Tickets available here or at the door.
Following the performance, the audience is invited to a reception to enjoy refreshments and meet the musicians, continuing the spirit of community that the orchestra prides itself on.
The concert will be held in the newly renovated auditorium at MassBay Community College, 50 Oakland Street, Wellesley, where there is plenty of free parking.
