On Tuesday, May 26, students, teachers, tutors (and family members) from Wellesley Free Library’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program gathered for a potluck dinner celebrating a year of learning and community. More than 100 people attended, sharing an incredible spread of dishes from around the world—from mini arepas and dolma to tea eggs and tres leches cake.
Longtime teacher Carolyn “CC” Cincotti, who is retiring this year, was honored at the event as a cornerstone of the program, having led three different classes for beginners, advanced beginners, and low-intermediate students.
This past semester, the program offered 15 free classes. But the mission of the library’s ESOL program extends beyond teaching English and introducing American culture; it’s also about creating connection, friendship, and a true sense of belonging within the Wellesley community. That spirit of warmth and welcome was unmistakable throughout the evening potluck.
The ESOL program is currently seeking additional tutors for the Fall 2026 semester. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact ESOL Coordinator Tanya Auger at esol@wellesleyfreelibrary.org
