Wellesley College made headlines last year for being the first higher education institution in the country with an all-in $100,000k sticker price. But this week it’s making headlines for offering a tuition-free education for middle-income families.

The school’s “Wellesley Tuition Promise,” starting in fall of 2027, offers free tuition to U.S. students with family incomes of up to $200k and typical assets. The current policy offers a tuition-free education for students with family incomes of up to $150,000.

The college’s 2026-2027 cost of attendance page shows tuition at $72.6k, along with meals, housing and other costs that do get it between $90k-$100k.

This is life changing news for people like me. I deliver mail living paycheck to paycheck. No hope of owning a home in this state. Way out of reach.
But my daughter now has a shot at higher education. I haven’t stopped thinking about this news since the day it was announced.
When I told her upon returning home from work she beamed and hugged me for what seemed like five minutes.
    For us this is huge.

Great. How about letting us walk around the pond as was done for decades?

Hi Mike. Wellesley College does allow the public to walk its portion of the pond path. Trouble is, the College does not own the entirety of the path that loops the pond. Your beef is with the Hunnewell family.
