Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) will present a concert performance of, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS May 18th and 19th at 7pm, featuring students from the audition-only touring group, IMPACT! All performances will take place at The WTP Studios at The Wellesley Community Center, located at 219 Washington St, Wellesley, MA 02481. Based on “The Kensington Stories” by Sally Benson, and the 1944 MGM motion picture, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS examines one year in the life of the Smith family. The Smiths live in St. Louis just as the highly anticipated 1904 World’s Fair is preparing to take place there, until the father’s New York job offer threatens to take them away.
IMPACT! is comprised of students ranging from 4th grade through 12th grade who demonstrate advanced performance skills and leadership. The current students come from Wellesley, Natick, Needham, Newton, Waban, Sherborn, West Roxbury, Weston, and Concord communities. The group’s mission is for the students to engage in their local and global communities through outreach by addressing important social values through dramatic performance.
Wellesley Theatre Project is an arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK – 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps. Upcoming WTP performances include Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (June 8th-10th).
