Musical Matinee: Kiss Me Kate
Two formerly married actors (Kathryn Grayson and Howard Keel) are forced back into contact with each other when they’re cast in a production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Will their history completely derail the show, or will they find a way to put their differences aside until, at least, opening night? Or could they even start to like each other again? A bright technicolor confection, Kiss Me Kate brings The Taming of the Shrew into the age of the MGM musical, complete with music by the one and only Cole Porter. This film brings laughs a-plenty, with gorgeous sets and costumes—and keep your eyes peeled for a young Bob Fosse in one of his first screen roles!
