DESCRIPTION: Each September, Newton-Wellesley Hospital hosts a Purple Flag Ceremony in honor of National Recovery Month. Thousands of purple flags are placed on the hospital lawn—each representing a Massachusetts resident lost to opioid overdose in the previous year. The event serves as a powerful visual tribute and a call to action for awareness, compassion, and change. Hosted in partnership with SOAR Natick, the ceremony includes brief remarks from hospital leaders and community advocates.
