Submit your event/s here. Note that we limit event listings mainly to free or inexpensive public events in Wellesley, such as talks, films, theatre productions, concerts, etc. This is not a place for businesses to promote themselves, their classes, etc. Please don’t submit events that run for weeks and weeks. We approve event listings before they go live, typically within 24 hours.
No business sales, trunk shows, etc. (those would be paid advertisements). Please go easy on the ALL CAPS, exclamation points!!!!, etc.
We also appreciate any contributions to support our independent journalism venture.

Retrace the Steps of Wellesley Militia Members—Needham to Arlington Community Walk
EVENT: 12.6-mile walk from Needham to Arlington to retrace the steps militia members walked to join battle (bus tour an option)
DATE: Saturday, April 19
TIME: 8:45am
START LOCATION: Walk leaves from Townsend Green (Central Avenue at Nehoiden Street), Needham
COST: $30 to walk; $60 to ride bus
DESCRIPTION: Did you know that when fighting first broke out in the conflict that would become the Revolutionary War, Wellesley residents participated?
250 years ago, Wellesley was still West Needham, and when conflict errupted in Concord and Lexington, the West Needham militia (assembling at Weston Rd and Central St), the East Needham militia (assembling at Townsend Green) and the Minute Company (assembling at what is now the Wellesley Country Club), marched over 12 miles to join the battle at the Jason Russell House in Arlington. The fighting in Arlington was some of the heaviest of the day, and five Needham residents lost their lives in the first battle to create our nation.
Join the Needham History Center & Museum on the 250th anniversary of the battle of Lexington and Concord, April 19th, to retrace the 12.6 mile route militia members walked from Needham to Arlington. Upon arrival at the Jason Russell House, enjoy a tour and a packed lunch.
The walk begins at 8:45 am in the Townsend Green and goes through Needham, Wellesley, Newton, Watertown, Belmont, and Arlington. Assuming a 25 minute/mile pace, walkers should arrive at the Jason Russell House at approximately 2:45 pm. Participants will need to arrange their own transportation home. Proceeds benefit the Needham History & Museum Center.
