The Familiar Reimagined: Artwork by Eddie Bruckner Solo Exhibition at Wellesley Free Library

September 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

The Wellesley Free Library & Contemporary artist Eddie Bruckner invites the public to experience “The Familiar Reimagined: Artwork by Eddie Bruckner,” a solo exhibition on view at
the Wellesley Free Library, 530 Washington St., Wellesley, MA 20482, from September 3 through September 30, 2026.

The public is invited to attend the Artist’s Reception on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, learn about the inspiration behind the paintings, and enjoy light refreshments while viewing the exhibition.

Through bold color, dynamic composition, and a contemporary visual language rooted in Pop Art, Bruckner explores how the images that surround us—from iconic landmarks and everyday objects to symbols of popular culture—become part of our collective memory. His paintings invite viewers to pause and reconsider the familiar, revealing new stories, emotions, and connections within subjects that often go unnoticed. The exhibition’s title, The Familiar Reimagined, reflects Bruckner’s artistic approach. Rather than simply depicting recognizable imagery, he transforms ordinary subjects into vibrant works that celebrate nostalgia, curiosity, and imagination. By reinterpreting places, objects, and cultural icons that connect us through shared experience, his paintings encourage viewers to see the commonplace with fresh eyes and discover new meaning in what they thought they already knew.

Among the exhibition’s highlights are Bruckner’s celebrated paintings of Boston’s iconic CITGO Sign, which reinterpret one of New England’s most recognizable landmarks through vibrant color and expressive composition. The exhibition also debuts several never-before-seen paintings, offering visitors an opportunity to experience his newest work alongside a selection of recent favorites.
