Submit your event/s. Note that we limit event listings mainly to free or inexpensive public events in Wellesley, such as talks, films, theatre productions, concerts, etc. This is not a place for businesses to promote themselves, their classes, etc. Please don’t submit events that run for weeks and weeks. We approve event listings before they go live, typically within 24 hours.
No business sales, trunk shows, etc. (those would be paid advertisements). Please go easy on the ALL CAPS, exclamation points!!!!, etc.
We also appreciate any contributions to support our independent journalism venture.
Thanks, Deborah & Bob

Tom Yawkey focus of upcoming author talk to Lifetime Learning group
March 12, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Free
With Tom Yawkey’s name in the news, now is the perfect time to review the former Reds Sox owner’s life story. Author Bill Nowlin, who has written more than 25 Red Sox-related books, will do just that in speaking about his latest release, “Tom Yawkey: Patriarch of the Boston Red Sox” for Wellesley-Weston Lifetime Learning at Wellesley’s Unitarian Universalist Society (309 Washington Street). The talk to the History Potpourri class is open to seniors from all communities. Prospective new students are welcome to sample a variety of WWLL courses for free for two weeks. In Nowlin’s definitive 500-page biography of Yawkey, he addresses Yawkey’s leadership style and issues of racism during his tenure as the ballclub’s owner, beginning in 1932. The racism cloud is what has the Red Sox current ownership calling to rename Yawkey Way, returning it to Jersey Street, the original name. All WWLL courses take place Monday mornings. Students can park in the U-U lot or on nearby streets. Courses run 10-11 am and 11:30-12:30 pm, with coffee in between. Those who decide to enroll full-time pay $40 for one 10-week course or $70 for two. To register or obtain more information, visit www.wwllcourses.org or call 781 205-4204.
