Wellesley Free Library program: Decolonizing Wampanoag Identity Through Wopanaak Language & Culture
Dr. Nitana Hicks Greendeer, citizen of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and Head of Weetumuw School, discusses the intertwined roles of language and culture in shaping identity, community, and wellness. Drawing from her two decades of work with the Wôpanâak language, she explores how language reclamation fosters cultural revival, education, and healing within the Wampanoag community. A Q&A session will follow.
