The Wellesley Natural Resources Commission (NRC) is a government body that is responsible for the management of natural resources in town. Four staff members and five elected board members are responsible for the planning, preservation, and protection of parks, ponds, wetlands, and the town’s watershed area.

NRC announcements—let’s keep it clean, people
March 2026–The NRC is asking for help from Wellesley’s dog owners. The Town has received numerous complaints about dog waste on Town land. With 3,300+ dogs residing in Wellesley it’s essential that dog owners act responsibly. Dog waste ruins our parks and playing fields, and runs into our ponds and waterways. This is a public health nuisance! PLEASE be responsible and pick up dog waste AND dispose of it in a correct receptable – do not leave poop bags on the ground. If this problems continues, dog owners could risk losing the privilege of having dogs in the parks.
Also, please be smart when trusting someone with your dog. Before hiring a dog professional to care for your dog, do your research, check references, insurance, etc. Commercial dog walkers may walk up to 3 dogs maximum and ONLY with a permit from the NRC.
