Whole Foods Market’s Community Room

Does the irritating exhaust from idling cars drive you crazy? Idling has a serious impact on our health—and it has legal and financial consequences too.

Come watch “IDLE THREAT: Man on Emission,” the story of one man in New York City who has decided to do something about this pesky problem.

Wellesley Green Schools and Sustainable Wellesley invite you to a one-hour, award-winning film about George Pakenham, a New Yorker who was tired of sitting “idly by” while the air in his neighborhood filled with exhaust. His inspiring efforts show that one passionate person CAN be an agent of change in combating pollution and global warming!

Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

How can Wellesley Whole Foods afford to slash prices this way?

March 12, 2014 by Deborah Brown 6 Comments

Many Wellesley residents have fond memories of the old Star Market and mourned its passing.  It was widely presumed that the store could simply no longer afford the high cost of doing business in Wellesley, what with it’s outdated business model that emphasized low prices and sales.

When Whole Foods moved into the space, it took some time, but gradually, the town warmed to the idea of healthy, pricey eating.  Soon, families happily handed over whole paychecks just to ensure that grocery store options in town would remain diverse. Now this:

Pictures don’t lie, people.  If Whole Foods continues to roll back prices in this manner, there’s no telling what the future of the store could be.  We can only hope that this is simply a loss-leader strategy and prices throughout the store are not taking an equal beating.  In the meantime, please do not take unfair advantage of the store’s generosity by stocking up.  Just accept their goodwill gesture for what it is.

Whole Foods makes beef recall

August 9, 2008 by Bob Brown Leave a Comment

Whole Foods is recalling all fresh ground beef sold between June 2 and Aug. 6 because some may have contained E. coli bacteria. Health officials believe at least 7 Massachusetts people (and 9 overall) have gotten sick from the beef so far, none from Norfolk county. Whole Foods is pointing the finger of blame at supplier Coleman Natural Beef.

Earlier in the week, Roche Brothers recalled certain “roller sandwiches” that contained Listeria monocytogenes, which can be life threatening to people with certain health conditions, such as weakened immune systems.
