Town of Wellesley Election, political candidates advertising

Political candidates advertising

2026 political advertising rate: $325 for an ad that runs through election day (March 3, 2026). The rate is the same whether a candidate runs an ad for one month, or one day.

Typically, we include all ads from any one election race in a single ad space that rotates the ads every 5 or so seconds. Placement of the space will be determined based on other advertising commitments.

Ad size: 540 x 200, emailed in jpeg format to theswellesleyreport@gmail.com

Political ads, policies

The Swellesley Report does not endorse candidates for political office. We do accept political advertising, as a business transaction, from all candidates for any office, as well as related organizations, or organizations involved with ballot initiatives. We accept these not to express the views of The Swellesley Report, but to help pay the costs of publishing.

The Swellesley Report recognizes that political advertising can and does inform voters, and our editors are committed to fairness and freedom of expression. We follow generally accepted journalistic policies, and candidates for contested races are all contacted and notified of the opportunity to advertise. Rates are kept nominal so that price is not a barrier for a candidate to advertise.

Any advertisement is considered political if it involves a political figure, party or government issue, regardless of whether an election is taking place.

The Swellesley Report reserves the right to accept or decline any advertisement. The Swellesley Report will decline advertisements that it knows or believes to be misleading, inaccurate, fraudulent or illegal, or that fail to comply, in The Swellesley Report‘s sole discretion, with its standards of decency, taste or dignity. The Swellesley Report reserves the right to remove any messages for any reason, including ads that we deem are inflammatory, libelous or in bad taste.

Like all quality publishers of original journalism, The Swellesley Report maintains a clear separation between news and advertising content. Advertising that attempts to blur this distinction in a manner that, in The Swellesley Report‘s sole judgment, confuses readers will be rejected.

The Swellesley Report reserves the right to ask for verification of claims made in political advertising. Political ads must not include accusations or attacks relating to an individual’s personal life. The distinction and decision will be made solely by the management of The Swellesley Report.

All political advertisements must include all information required by local, state and federal law, and the advertiser is solely responsible for compliance.

An advertiser will not be permitted to buy up all or excessive inventory (ad spaces).

Typically, we include all ads from any one election race in a single ad space that rotates the ads every 5 or so seconds. Placement of the space will be determined based on other advertising commitments.
