Wellesley election 2025—guidelines for promoting candidates

This page covers frequently asked questions regarding The Swellesley Report’s 2025 Town Election coverage.

How do I place an election-related ad on The Swellesley Report?

In past elections, some candidates and/or groups promoting ballot questions have run an ad on The Swellesley Report. If your campaign would like to do so, here is some information you may find useful:

Election-related ads will run in two places on the front page of The Swellesley Report:

1) Space #1 is located under news story #1 (where Boys Lacrosse is right now). That spot will accommodate up to six ad images, which will rotate approximately every 5 seconds. Each candidate or group promoting a ballot question may purchase one ad slot only.

2) Space #2 is located under news story #1. Same guidelines as for Space #1.

The Swellesley Report’s editors will decide whether an ad is placed in the first or the second space.

The rate for a candidate ad to run is $300, regardless of what day the ad starts.

Ads may start at any time during the election cycle starting as early as Feb. 1, 2025.

The last day candidate ads will run will be Election Day, March 4, 2025.

If interested, please send your ad in jpeg format, with dimensions of 540 x 200, to theswellesleyreport@gmail.com

Payment of $300 must be made online at this link for the ad to appear. Please hit the yellow “donate” button, and follow the prompts.

How do I place a letter to the editor on The Swellesley Report?

Guidelines regarding letters to the editor can be found at this link.

How can I be the subject of a candidate Q&A post on The Swellesley Report?

Each candidate running in a contested race will receive an email request from Swellesley to be the subject of a candidate Q&A post. If a candidate agrees to participate, questions will be emailed.

The Q&A’s will run in a single post per office (one Q&A post covering each Select Board candidate; one Q&A post covering each Recreation Commission candidate; and one Q&A post covering each School Committee candidate.) Here is an example of a candidates’ Q&A post.

The candidates will appear in each post in ballot order. However, the posts covering each Board/Commission/Committee may not appear in ballot order.
