The Wellesley Planning Board is a government body that is responsible for making short- and long-term decisions related to land use in the Town of Wellesley. The six elected board members are responsible for the planning, preservation, and protection of parks, ponds, wetlands, and the town’s watershed area. (The Planning Department supports the Planning Board, along with multiple other boards and committees).
In its mission statement, the Planning Board is tasked with “preserving and enhancing Wellesley’s quality of life by fostering a diverse housing stock, multi-modal transportation options, valuable natural resources, resilient infrastructure, and a thriving local economy. The Planning Board achieves these goals through the creation and implementation of Zoning Bylaws, policies, long-term planning, and by promoting citizen participation in the planning process.”
