Wellesley High School has multiple opportunities for students to play sports. Some teams have a very competitive try-out process (soccer and basketball, for example), while others take all comers (such as cross country and nordic skiing).

Athletic Director John Brown Honored with Statewide Sportsmanship

Nov. 17, 2025–Congratulations to WPS Athletic Director John Brown, who was honored last week with the prestigious 2025 MIAA William N. Gaine Jr. Sportsmanship Award. The award is presented annually to an individual who sets an example for promoting sportsmanship in Massachusetts interscholastic athletics.

He was presented the award at the MIAA Sportsmanship Summit Thursday at Gillette Stadium, joined by several junior student-athletes as well as WHS assistant principal Drew Kelton and athletics administrative assistant MaryAnn McDonald.

Latest news on the Hunnewell Field Team Room building

Oct. 17, 2025–The Hunnewell Team Room building has gone out to bid, making the project one step closer to reality. The scope of work includes the construction of a new fabricated engineered modular team room building located at the Hunnewell field complex. The project includes construction of a modular building which includes locker rooms, bathrooms, and associated utility spaces. The project also includes concrete building foundation and precast exterior access stairs and ADA ramp.
