Italo American Club announces summer 2025 bocce teams
We’ve seen this lineup before. All you need to know is these guys are kind of intense.
The Italian American community in Wellesley takes great pride in its contributions to Wellesley. In 1936, Italian immigrants living and working in town banded together to purchase property at 75 Pleasant St., a neighborhood where many of the newcomers had settled and were raising families. They founded what is formally known as the Italo American Educational Club as a space for socializing, recreation, meetings, and events.

You don’t have to be Italian to join, but it helps. Membership is open to all who can boast paternal Italian lineage (sorry, maternal side of the family). Associate Membership is available to others.
Membership has its privileges
- private downstairs bar
- pool tables
- darts
- indoor bocce court
- 4 outdoor bocce courts; annual winter bocce tournament
- corn hole
Not a member, but need to party?
Anyone can rent out the Club’s second-floor banquet hall. It’s got a bar, catering space, a full kitchen, restrooms and a dance floor. Plenty of off-street parking, too, a rarity in Wellesley. Our kids took Ballroom Dancing there as 4th graders, which may or may not still be a rite off passage for Wellesley’s youth. For those of who simply can’t swing the Wellesley Country Club ballroom fees (or simply want a more casual atmosphere), the Italo American Club is a great resource.
