Wellesley’s Hardy Elementary School welcomes new principal

Ed Kaufman, currently principal at Merriam Elementary School in Acton, has been appointed as the next principal of Hardy Elementary School in Wellesley, effective July 1.

Kaufman has served as Merriam’s principal since 2008, and was a classroom teacher at the school for 13 years before that. The Core Values at Merriam? “Risk Taking, Persistence and Respect.” Here’s Kaufman’s educational philosophy, in a nutshell.

Bernadine Small has been serving as Hardy’s interim principal. MaryBeth Kinkead left as Hardy principal last year to take a job in Natick.
