Changes afoot at Wellesley’s Button Box

Button Box, the sewing/quilting/crafting shop on Rte. 9 west in Wellesley, is looking for a buyer, as longtime owner Catherine Gentile is retiring.

Her shop’s latest newsletter asked the question: Want to own a Sewing & Quilt Shop? Gentile writes that “It has been a wonderful, inspirational, fabulous and exhausting 21 years.  Whether I like it or not, it is time to retire – at least part time!  I want to turn the shop over to a team willing to put in the time to keep it a happy place.  Hopefully, a team that is willing to let me come and work part time.”

Saying that Button Box is hanging on by a thread would be a stretch. Gentile says it will be business as usual through the spring, with classes. machine service and sales. That will please patrons like one woman who wrote to us and said Button Box is the only supplier of good quality materials in the area.

Button Box got its start in Needham back in 1995.
