While many eyes are on the continued teardown of Wellesley’s 100-year-old Hardy Elementary School on Weston Road, progress continues on the new 80,000 sq. ft. Hardy adjacent to it as that building is readied for the start of the new school year on Aug. 28.
The Permanent Building Committee is the place to get the latest on big projects like this, and a brief update was shared a couple of minutes into the July 25 meeting (see Wellesley Media recording).
Granite curbing, vehicle gates, and light poles are among the items that have been installed, with landscaping ongoing. Inside, painting, security, audio-visual and more are being worked on, and the elevator is working. Rubber flooring and carpet is pretty much done. The Board of Health was doing its walkthrough last week. Teacher contents are being moved in during the week of Aug. 12.

Is the School Committee selling those bricks to raise funds for PTO or some other need? Seems like a wasted opportunity if not doing so.
