Paul “Paulie” Veneto, the retired flight attendant who in 2021 pushed an airline beverage cart from Logan Airport to Ground Zero to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, is making his way through Wellesley again this year to pay tribute to the crew and passengers on American flight 11.
This marks his fourth straight year of pushing in honor of 9/11 heroes, and rounds out his tributes of all four flights highjacked on Sept. 11, 2001. The other flights were United 175 (he was often scheduled to fly that route), American 77, and United 93. You can support his campaign online.
Veneto began this year’s push in Boston’s Public Garden on Aug. 18, and like with his original campaign, he’ll be heading through Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York before arriving at Ground Zero in Manhattan by Sept. 11. Veneto is staying at the Verve Hotel in Natick while in the area, and he will be leaving there on Tuesday morning to continue his push to New York.
The Natick stop marks the first 24 miles of the 210-mile trek, which you can follow along via an interactive online map. Paulie’s push on Tuesday morning through Wellesley will be via Wellesley Avenue near the Country Club, then hit Washington Street near Brook Street and travel down Rte. 16 toward Wellesley College and Natick.
