To the editor,
I am writing to endorse Ken Largess as a candidate for the Wellesley Select Board. Quite, simply, Ken’s passion for the town combined with his personal, professional and volunteer experience make him the ideal candidate to represent our entire town on the Select Board.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Ken as a youth football board member, coach, and more importantly a friend for the past eight plus years. In the time that I have known Ken, I have learned that he is a thoughtful, intelligent, and kind friend who would do anything to help those he cares about. I have also seen that he is adept at solving complex problems, taking a measured approach and working to see all sides of the issue.
In his 15 years as a Wellesley resident, I’d argue that no single person has made an impact on this town in so many different areas. While most volunteers spend their time narrowly focused in an area where they are passionate, in my case youth sports as a coach, board member, and former president, Ken has spent his time making an impact on our town across the spectrum of town functions.
Ken is passionate about improving the town as a whole. As I mentioned, he has been the vice president of Wellesley Youth Football as well as a coach, but Ken has also coached soccer, basketball, and baseball. Ken’s contributions don’t stop with sports. He served Fiske School as a member of their school council with a focus on safety. Ken has also been a member of Wellesley’s advisory committee where he had the additional responsibility of serving as the Advisory Committee’s liaison to the Select Board.
Ken’s professional career as a corporate attorney has positioned him well to attack the myriad of issues that the Select Board must deal with. He is a tremendous listener, and he has a unique ability to articulate his point of view in a simple and thoughtful way.
In short, Ken Largess cares deeply about our town, and he will work tirelessly to maintain excellence while working to find opportunities to improve the town and the experience that each of us has living in Wellesley.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please get out and vote on Tuesday, March 4th!
