Wellesley MA police log for January 3-11, 2025:
Arrest
On January 6, 2025, at 9:49 a.m. Officer Cunningham served an arrest warrant to a man issued by Framingham District Court for Larceny from a Building. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later transported to Framingham District Court.
Incidents
On January 3, 2025, at 8:12 a.m. ACO Smith spoke with a male party who stated earlier that morning while running at Centennial Park he encountered 5-6 dogs off leash that were not under the voice control of their owners. The dogs began running down a hill towards him and the owners did not seem to be able to control them. Most of the dogs ran past him, but one dog jumped up and bit him in the rear. The reporting party asked the dog owner to put the dog on a leash and the owner complied. He did not obtain the owner or the dog’s information. ACO Smith advised him to consult with his physician about proper care for the dog bite. The male party stated this was the second time he had been bitten by a dog that was off leash at Centennial Park, and he intends to contact the Select Board about the leash laws.
On January 4, 2025, at 12:30 a.m. an officer spoke with a male party who stated he had been chatting with an unknown individual who he thought was a student at the same college he attends and he sent a photo of his legs to her which she altered to make it look as though he was naked and then demanded a $200 payment or she would send the photo to all of his contacts on SnapChat. He told the unknown party that he did not have $200, and they agreed he would send a $50 Apple Gift Card to an email address. The unknown party then demanded additional money. The officer advised him to block the individual on social media, to make his account private so unknown people could not contact him and to be more aware of his social media presence as there are many scams on social media. The officer contacted the Law Enforcement Snapchat Operations team in an attempt to obtain information about the unknown individual on two occasions without success.
On January 5, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to Woodcliff Road for a report of suspicious activity. The reporting party stated there were four vehicles parked in front of the residence with several people running around. While responding to the residence on Cliff Road and making a left turn onto Lowell Road one of the officers observed four vehicles traveling east on Lowell Road approaching the stop sign. All of the vehicles turned right onto Cliff Road and began heading south. The vehicles turned onto Washington Street and then turned onto Woodlawn and eventually traveled onto the MA Turnpike heading east and fled the area. The officer returned to speak with the homeowner and review his doorbell camera footage which showed one male party open a vehicle in his driveway and go through the contents of the vehicle. The unknown male party then attempted to open the door of another vehicle in the driveway which was locked. The male party and others who were waiting on the street ran to their vehicles and began to drive away. He did not believe anything had been taken from his vehicle.
On January 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Alltown for a report of damage to the carwash. The reporting party stated a Jeep Grand Cherokee went through the car wash with a bike rack on the back which damaged the car wash. The store employee provided the officer with the vehicle registration. The officer was able to locate a phone number for the owner and he stated he didn’t realize vehicles could not have bike racks in the car wash. He was advised that his information would be provided to the gas station for insurance purposes.
On January 6, 2025, at 1:14 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a residence for a report of water being drained from a pool on the roadway and the water was freezing and causing a hazard. The officer located the residence and was unable to make contact with the homeowner. The officer was able to shut off the drain and requested the Department of Public Works respond and treat the icy roadway. The officer left a business card for the homeowner and requested that they contact him. The officer later spoke with the homeowner who was apologetic, and he advised them of the Town’s regulations regarding swimming pool and spa drainage and advised them not to allow the situation to occur again.
On January 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. an officer spoke with a homeowner about damage to their property. A section of their fence, a flagpole and a bush had been damaged. He believed someone delivering construction materials to a neighboring house may have done the damage. The reporting party’s mail carrier advised him the damage was there the previous day. The reporting party wished to have the damage documented in the event they file an insurance claim.
On January 7, 2025, at 1:14 p.m. ACO Smith was dispatched to the area of the Wellesley Hills Train Station for a report of a dog on the train tracks. While searching for the dog the Wellesley Emergency Communications Center was notified by the MBTA that the dog had been struck by a train near the Bacon Street Bridge. ACO Smith and officers responded to the area and located the dog. The dog had suffered catastrophic injuries when struck by the train. ACO Smith contacted the dog’s owner who requested that the dog be transported to their veterinary hospital.
On January 7, 2025, at 3:57 p.m. an officer spoke with a reporting party regarding an email scam they had received. They stated they received an email that demanded $2,000 in bitcoin and they knew it was a scam. The officer conducted an online check of the bitcoin address and observed there was no balance in the account. The scam email was reported to the bitcoin company. There are no suspects.
On January 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. an officer spoke to a resident about a past breaking and entering into their residence. The reporting party stated when he returned home the previous day a Rolex watch valued at $12,000 was missing from his dresser. After noticing the missing watch, the reporting party looked around the house and noticed a basement window had been opened. The reporting party did not believe anything else was missing from the residence. The incident is under investigation.
On January 9, 2025, at 10:58 a.m. ACO Smith spoke with a male reporting party who stated around 9:50 a.m. that morning he encountered a dog on Washington Street in Wellesley Square while walking on the sidewalk. The dog bit him and the owner apologized. The reporting party did not immediately notice that the dog bite had punctured his pants and his calf was bleeding. The reporting party did not obtain the dog owners’ information at the time of the incident. ACO Smith checked with local shops to see if they knew who the dog owner was or if they may have captured the incident with their security cameras without any luck in identifying the dog owner.
On January 10, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. an officer spoke with a female reporting party who stated she was notified the previous day that someone had ordered two iPhone 16 Pro Max phones using her personal information. The phones were to be picked up at a store in Enfield Connecticut. The reporting party contacted her cell phone service provider and cancelled the order. She checked her bank accounts and there were no suspicious transactions. There are no suspects.
On January 11, 2025, at 9:50 a.m. an officer spoke with a male reporting party who stated a business in Wellesley Hills had signage on town property and he had previously notified the business owner that this was in violation of the Wellesley Zoning by-laws. He stated that on January 11 th he noticed the signage was on the sidewalk again and he removed the signage and brought it to the police station. The officer returned the signage to the store owner and advised them that the signage could not be placed on the public sidewalk. The owner indicated that they understood and would not put the signage back on the sidewalk.
On January 11, 2025, at 11:15 a.m. an officer spoke with a male and female reporting party regarding a potential scam. The reporting parties stated they received a phone call from a female party stating that their daughter had been in a car accident that injured someone and was currently being held at the Norfolk County Jail. They requested that the reporting parties get $15,000 for the bail bond. While at their bank the teller was suspicious of the incident and advised them to contact their daughter. They contacted their daughter and learned she was not involved in a car accident. The officer attempted to call 3 phone numbers used to contact the reporting parties and all 3 numbers had been disconnected.
On January 11, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. a male party came to the police station to turn in a wallet that he had found while walking. The wallet contained a large amount of money and a Brazilian driver’s license. A dispatcher attempted to find a current address with the information contained on the license and was unsuccessful in locating the property owner. The wallet was secured in the found/lost property. On January 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. the owner of the wallet came to the station and asked if anyone had turned it in. They were able to provide a valid passport with a photograph that matched the driver’s license in the wallet and the wallet was returned to them.
