March 14 is Pi Day, for the magic number. But it’s also a great day to eat pie.
We took a spin through every online menu for the dozens of businesses on our Restaurants in Wellesley, Mass. page for all listings of pie.
There were shockingly few pies listed (not to say it’s not possible we missed a few while flipping through). Some restaurants, dare we say, don’t even list their desserts online. We didn’t count cakes as pies, nor pizza pies, nor cocktails with pie flavors.
Here are a few we did find (and no doubt some of the bakeries in town do sell pies beyond what’s listed here).
- black & blue Steak and Crab has an $11 key lime pie (graham cracker crust topped with key lime curd and whipped cream).
- Quebrada has $4.67 Chocolate Whoopie Pies plus Boston Creme Pies for $32 (6″) or $45 (9″) described as being made of 2 layers of yellow cake, around a generous layer of vanilla pastry cream, frosted on top with chocolate ganache.
- JP Licks has a $26 Salted Caramel Cookies ‘n’ Cream Pie in a homemade Oreo crust, with a layer of fudge, and decorated with a fudge drizzle and caramel whipped cream.
This seems like the sorta post where people might let us know of missing pies: theswellesleyreport@gmail.com
