The latest Wellesley, Mass., business news:
Popovers at Church Square gets its close-up
Writer Jennifer Lambert checked in with Morgan Schaffrath and Carl Parisien, the wife and husband co-owners of Popovers at Church Square, on how things have been going since they opened their unique restaurant last summer. Read her story, “Popovers and partnership: How a Natick couple built a Wellesley bakery from scratch,” on Natick Report.
Schaffrath said she loves seeing customers’ reactions to their enormous popovers.
“It will never get old for me when I bring a popover out, and they gasp and say, ‘That’s so big,’” Schaffrath said. “Then, they take their phone out and take a picture because they’ve never seen a popover that big.”

Coincidentally, the MetroWest Daily News also just profiled Popovers.

Chamber starts Small Shops program
In an effort to better support small retailers, the Charles River Regional Chamber has launched its Small Shops program. Starting today, all independently owned, single-location brick-and-mortar retailers in Newton, Needham, Watertown, and Wellesley can join the chamber for free.
The program will give business owners access to their peers, both small and large, plus webinars and other resources to help them strengthen their operations.
“Our goal is to create a robust directory of virtually all the retailers in our footprint,” writes Chamber President & CEO Greg Reibman.
The Chamber is seeking underwriters for the program as well and building out a regional retail directory.
Another IDG sale
Not really a Wellesley story, but Mr. Swellesley spent most of his career as a reporter and editor with tech business publisher IDG (and we know of others in town who also have worked or do work at IDG or sister company IDC). So the news that the IDG publications business, now called Foundry, has been sold—again—caught our eye. A private equity firm is the buyer, so you know this will end well.
