The Wellesley public schools for the first time are closed in observance of Eid al-fitr, an Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan—a month of fasting during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset each day—and celebrates the breaking of the fast.
Ramadan this year was observed Friday, Feb. 28 – Saturday, March 29.
Across the world families get together for a big meal, make donations to their favorite charities, and express gratitude for their blessings.
The Swellesley Report wishes all who celebrate a joyous and blessed Eid al-fitr.
