A young driver plowed into the front entrance window of The Cottage restaurant in Linden Square on Sunday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The restaurant closed for Sunday night and posted on its Facebook Page/Twitter account late Monday morning that “Unfortunately we are closed due to unforeseen circumstances. We will be keeping everyone up to date as information becomes available.”
Police say it appears that the driver inadvertently accelerated the vehicle while attempting to park instead of applying the brake. The vehicle was rendered inoperable as a result of the collision and was towed from the scene.
The operator was cited, there will be no criminal charges. The building inspector was notified and responded to the scene.
Wellesley has a rich recent history of drivers crashing into homes and storefronts, including that of Quebrada bakery in 2012.
