Wellesley’s Ann Gagliano has kept her streak of amazing Halloween displays at 3 Upson Rd. alive, with inspiration from Tim Burton’s 1990 gothic romantic film Edward Scissorhands.
The exhibit earned this year’s Judges Choice Award from the Wellesley Recreation Department, which also doled out a Scariest Award for an Edgewater Road home in its annual decorating contest.
Roy Perkinson, an artsy guy himself, shared photos with us from the Upson Road display.

LOOKS VERY IMAGINITIVE! SIMILIAR TO THE ONE IN WINCHESTER, OFF HIGHLAND AVE, WHOSE FAMILY HAS BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS, SUPPLYING SEVERAL “DRIVE BUYS!” MIGHT BE AN “ISSUE” WITH ABUTTING NEIGHBORS!

Thank you, Swellesley Report, for featuring my Halloween display in this year’s Halloween edition!
Whether I win or lose, this event brings me so much joy. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the smiles and reactions from the neighborhood—it’s the true reward of any artist. I’m already dreaming up ideas for next year’s display!
A special thanks goes to my husband, who turns my visions into reality as my dedicated “prop guy.” And, of course, thank you to Wellesley Rec for sponsoring this event year after year. This tradition fosters such a sense of creative unity and brings joy to all who visit.
Happy Halloween, and thank you again!
