The 1,500-pound steel sculpture by Clement Meadmore, removed from the campus of Wellesley College and sent out for cleaning last July, has made its triumphant return. We happened upon the re-installation during a mid-day walk earlier this week.
The striking piece was first installed in 2012 in front of the campus’ garage, across the street from Alumnae Hall.
Titled “Upsurge,” the minimalist artwork was donated by rich alumnae and Trustee Emerita of the College, Lynn Johnston ’64, and her husband.
