Birds have been putting on a show in Wellesley.
First, let’s get the gross one out of the way: A bird of prey tore into a smaller bird, maybe a mourning dove, maybe a pigeon, and left this display of feathers and innards (including seeds that the smaller bird had consumed) in our yard. Yum/ew.
Second, we’re not pointing any talons regarding the above situation, but hours later we did also spy this hawk perched on a “Habit to Habitat” sign at Simons Park next to the library where the town has torn up the lawn and planted a meadow. Should be some good eatin’ in there, too as that meadow fills out.
