Welcome spring with music the whole family will love Tap your feet to popular marches, traditional tunes, concert band classics, Broadway show hits, and more, including:
Prelude and Fugue in B-Flat Major by J.S. Bach: This arrangement for symphonic band imitates the rich texture and full sound of a concert pipe organ.
Shenandoah: Enjoy the beauty of free-flowing American folk melodies. Use your imagination to hear the sounds of nature, especially a river.
Lincolnshire Posy: This well-loved piece draws on British folk songs, which the composer referred to as “a bunch of musical wildflowers.”
Overture in B-Flat: Composer Caesar Giovanni was a pianist and music director at top Hollywood studios in the 1960s, where he played with Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and many other Hollywood stars.
West Side Story: Fill your heart with “Tonight,” snap your fingers to “Cool,” and enjoy other tunes from this classic Broadway show.
Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite: Picture acrobats, elephants, and exciting circus acts with this “Granddaddy” of Circus Marches.
The Liberty Bell: Sousa named this march “Liberty Bell” after the Chicago unveiling of a huge painting of the bell and his son’s marching in a parade honoring this historic landmark.
The concert is free, with complimentary refreshments following the show.
