The much anticipated new Wellesley Square restaurant being opened as soon as March by Dave Becker of Needham’s Sweet Basil appears to be called Juniper.
The Board of Selectmen will consider transferring Milestone restaurant’s all-alcohol license to Juniper at its meeting on Monday night.
Chef and cookbook author Becker, who bought Sweet Basil 14 years ago and expanded the Needham location about 7 years ago, says the Wellesley Central Street space attracts him because it’s one of the first things you see upon entering that part of town and he likes the building.
The Globe reported recently to “expect new twists on Greek, Lebanese, Israeli, and eastern Mediterranean food, with his own special cubed cous cous recipe.”
I guess we can expect to find some Juniper berries in a recipe or two, too.
Wellesley’s restaurant scene continues to heat up, with tapas restaurant Bocado on the way this summer.
