Here’s a round-up of the latest Wellesley, Mass., business news:
Legit Activewear apparently missed us
Legit Activewear, the retailer of stylish and stretchy clothing for women, has returned to Wellesley, this time in the Belclare condo/retail complex on Washington Street at the edge of Wellesley Square. Legit has moved into space at 588 Washington St., vacated recently by the Pucker Gallery, which had indicated going in that it might not be there long-term.
Legit began its first stint in Wellesley back in the spring of 2015 (See: “New Wellesley store Legit wants you to look your sleekest, stretchiest best”) when it was located in Wellesley Hills on the retail block that used to include Bertucci’s. Legit left its space when the lease expired and opened a store at The Street in Chestnut Hill, “with hopes of one day opening a second location in Wellesley… when the right space came along,” says owner Jen Schneiderman. She says she loves the co-tenants at the Belclare, and hopes for better foot traffic than at the previous Wellesley spot.
This time around, Legit will have some fresh local competition in Crane & Lion, which is headed for the space formerly occupied by Talbots in Wellesley Square.
Wellesley branch of Needham Bank names new management team
Nadia Mahotiere has joined the Wellesley branch of Needham Bank as Branch Manager at its 485 Washington St. location. Mahotiere holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting Management from Northeastern University.
In a related move, Derek Lee was named Assistant Branch Manager of that office. Lee, educated at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, began his banking career as a teller with Wakefield Community Bank and has since steadily risen in the banking ranks.
