Evolutions is an interdisciplinary and collaborative program at Wellesley High that has teachers and students making connections across courses in Art, English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Such programs have been underway at nearby schools in communities such as Brookline and Needham, and the Wellesley program — which attracted over 80 juniors and seniors for the 2015 – 2016 school year — has its share of supporters in the administration, faculty and student body.
The program meets every cycle day — depending on the day that means 3.5 to 6.5 hours — always within the 8:30am – 2:30pm time frame. Available to incoming sophomores and juniors, 65 students will be accepted into the 2016 – 2017 cohort. Evolutions classes are designated as Honors for course credit, primarily based on accessing the content through new and challenging ways. For interested current sophomores and juniors, the application process starts on Monday, February 2 for the 2016-2017 year. More info will be posted in the WHS house offices, or click here for the Evolutions website.
