The Wellesley Historical Society is beginning to look for a new executive director, as current leader Taylor Kalloch has announced plans to step back from her role after more than a decade with the organization. She began as an intern and took over as executive director in 2021.
Kalloch wrote to members: “It has been an enormous pleasure to work for the Society in a variety of roles, from student intern to executive director, and I am proud of all we have accomplished together over the past 14 years. We have preserved Wellesley’s history and made it come alive to countless members of the community through our engaging programs and exhibits, and have facilitated historical inquiry by researchers around the world. Over the course of the upcoming year, the Society will celebrate its 100th anniversary and the opening of the Wellesley History Center (WHC)! The expanded space at the WHC will allow the Society to engage with the community in new and exciting ways.”
Kalloch said she plans to stay on as the board searches for her replacement, and then to mentor that person.
The Historical Society, which scored $640K from the Community Preservation Committee earlier this year after Annual Town Meeting approved the appropriation, is looking to open the Wellesley History Center on Washington Street in about a year.
