The Wellesley High School girls’ golf team routed the competition at the state tournament on Wednesday, winning by 20 strokes over runner-up Wachusett Regional at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland. Last year, Wachusett nipped Wellesley by three strokes for the state title.

Wellesley earlier had won the North/Central/West sectional championship following a dominant regular season.
The Raiders’s final score at the state tournament was 358 vs. 378 for Wachusett.
Alika Lavu (a Wellesley Athlete of the Week earlier this season) led Wellesley with an 85 score, tied for 14th among individual golfers. Teammates Ruby Savarese, Denise Pan and Jenna Saini piled on for the Raiders, with all of them finishing in the top 30.
