The Wellesley Natural Resources Commission’s Trails Committee will be welcoming the fall with a series of free, guided trail walks.
September 20, Sunday (1:30-3:00 p.m.) – Kids Trails Day
Join us in celebrating fall and have your kids out into the woods to have fun and explore nature. We will have interactive playtime such as building a Native American shelter, identifying birds and leaves and learning about biodegradability. Refreshments served at the end of the activities. No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Mass Bay Community College parking lot on Oakland Street. Entrance to parking lot is on the right 1/4-mile south of Rt. 9 at the crosswalk.
October 3, Saturday (9-10 a.m.) – Carisbrooke Walk
Walk trails through Carisbrooke Reservation, a surprising wooded area with rocky outcrops on the Weston town line, and explore trails in the adjacent Weston conservation land. Meet at 9 a.m. at the end of Glen Brook Road, located off Glen Road at the Weston town border.
October 17, Saturday (9-10 a.m.) – Guernsey Path Walk
Walk along the Charles River to the historic Waban Arches built in 1876 to carry water to Boston and see the colorful fall foliage from the top of the 50 ft. arches. Take an optional short walk thru the GuernseySanctuary to Sabrina Lake, the 1870’s site of an amusement park. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Guernsey parking area. Take Dover Road from Washington Street and follow for 0.7 mi. Turn right onto Livingston Road, which becomes Winding River Road, and follow for 0.9 mi. Parking area is on your left at the trail map house.
October 31, Saturday (9-10 a.m.) – Town Forest Walk
Walk the woodland trails in the Town Forest. Enjoy the picturesque views around Longfellow Pond. Walk the Esker Trail and experience the steep 80-foot high eskers deposited by glaciers. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Longfellow Pond parking lot, located on the left side of Oakland Street 0.9 miles south of Rt. 9.
