The Wellesley Democratic Town Committee has voted to endorse Ed Markey in the Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, April 30. Congressman Markey, currently representing the Fifth District of Massachusetts, is a candidate to fill the seat recently vacated by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
Markey is running against fellow Congressman Stephen Lynch in the Democratic primary. Three candidates — Gabriel Gomez, Michael Sullivan and Daniel Winslow — are duking it out on the Republican side. More election info here.
“Ed Markey has been a champion for equal rights, health care access and gun violence prevention, and is one of our nation’s leading voices on the impact of climate change on our environment,” said Stephen Murphy, Chairman of the Wellesley Democratic Town Committee. “Ed’s values are consistent with the values of our community, and he has the experience and leadership skills to turn those values into positive change for our nation. The Committee urges Wellesley voters to cast their ballot for Ed Markey in the April 30th primary.”
