Wellesley, otherwise known as Hollywood East, next week will be the site of a shoot for a new indie romantic thriller called “The Grey Lady” that’s about a Boston police officer who heads to Nantucket to solve his partner’s murder.
Nantucket is sometimes referred to as the Grey Lady for its appearance during times of fog.
This film is written and directed by Nantucket theatre mover and shaker John Shea, whose face might be familiar to those who watch The Good Wife TV series (he plays one of the lawyers’ dads) and from his portrayal of Lex Luther in an old Superman TV series. The Grey Lady stars Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Natalie Zea (Justified) and Amy Madigan (Field of Dreams).
Wellesley neighbors have been given a heads up about the Oct. 1 movie shoot, which will take place on Rice Street from 7am-10pm. (Thanks to a reader who passed a copy of the letter along.)
A casting call for the film was held on Nantucket back in February, so not sure if any Wellesley-ites will have a chance to stroll onto the set for their big chance.
Wellesley has been a filming hotspot of late.
A movie called “The Greens are Gone” filmed in Wellesley in July at the entrance to Elm Bank Reservation.
Wellesley has been the location of movie-making in the past, including for The Company Men and Mona Lisa Smile. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past was also filmed in part at Elm Bank.
