THE LIGHTNING THIEF, The Percy Jackson Musical is the musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best selling book. As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him.

THE LIGHTNING THIEF features a talented cast, composed of 13 students between the ages of twelve and seventeen. Cast members of  THE LIGHTNING THIEF reside in Wellesley as well as other communities including Natick Needham, Newton, Weston, and Wayland. The production staff includes: Jess Harms, Director; David Wright, Music Director; Nadine Sa, Stage Manager; Ash Long, Costume Designer; Jennie McGuinness, Creature Designer; Ben Rush, Scenic & Lighting Designer; James Cannon, Sound Designer; and Alexa Brooke Lambert, Prop Master. THE LIGHTNING THIEF, The Percy Jackson Musical is written by Joe Tracz, with music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki and is adapted from the book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.

Wellesley Theatre Project is an award winning arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK – 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps. Registration will open for WTP’s Spring 2023 Classes, and 2023 Summer Camps. Upcoming performances include including Disney’s Descendants (May 5th-7th 2023).
