Mindy Kaling, the comedian, writer and actor who plays Kelly on TV’s “The Office”, dedicates a section of her new book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me to Wellesley’s Morses Pond. She grew up in Cambridge but went to Morses Pond as a kid in the 1980’s through Wellesley Day Camp. It seems she took some literary license in the section, making reference to Dirk Greineder having hired a hit man to murder his wife (Greineder was convicted of killing her himself back in 1999).
She recalls not liking “Remorses Pond” because it offered no snack or gift shop, like Walden Pond, plus was “teeming with Canadian [sic] geese poop.”
