Wellesley High School Junior Megan Shinnick is no stranger to the stage, having sung and acted in numerous shows over the years. Shinnick drew from that ability for poise in front of a live audience back in November at the TEDx Boston event when she discussed her own struggle with depression as well as the need for more schools to provide mental health resources like the Bridge program she takes advantage of at WHS.
TEDx has only recently posted the video of this teen social activist’s talk on YouTube, and here it is.

Brave and wonderful presentation on something so real and true. AND important.
I teach yoga and know the power we have over our mental state and how we do need to fight for balance in this world, as we perceive it. Our perception is our reality. I also am a trustee for HRS, mental health agency that sees families in Wellesley and helps them with their mental stressors. HRS also supports our schools and the Bridge Program.
Thanks Megan and thanks to all who support a full and happy life free from pain.
