Wellesley tear downs, before and after

May 22, 2015 by Deborah Brown 8 Comments

It’s no secret that Wellesley real estate is a hot commodity. Buildable lots come on the market so infrequently that eager buyers  with deep pockets search for low-cost homes (meaning under a million), then tear them down to make way for new, custom-built homes with all the bells and whistles.

Here’s a before and after look at a few homes that have fallen and risen in the past year or so…

19 Shadow Lane, before, sold in 2014 for $580,000:

Looks like a grown up version of Levittown. I used to live on Suffolk Rd.

Pathetic. No creativity. Why can’t someone build something other than a faux colonial? Looks like 2015 version of Levittown.

Not the Wellesley I knew. Glad I’m not living there anymore.

The new ones are nearly all hideous. The biggest travesty was on Rt. 9 where a lovely smaller house was torn down and a giant monstrosity crammed sideways onto the lot. Awful trend.

From the curb, the garages are the most prominent features of these new McMansions. Not a fan of much of this new construction. Wellesley looks more and more like a subdivision along I-495 with every passing month.

Is it possible for a new house to be constructed without triangle peaks?
