
Wellesley’s Michael Tobin sent along this report of the early morning birding walk held in Wellesley on June 17:
About 16 enthusiastic guests joined Elissa Landre for an early morning bird viewing and walk of some of the Morses Pond and North 40 trails. Ages ranged from 14 months and up.
Some of the birds we saw and heard:
Baltimore Oriole
Cardinal
Mourning Doves
Gold finch
Robin
Grackle
Blue Jay parents and 3 babies in nest
Pine Warbler
English Sparrow
Black Capped Chickadee
Also present in area but not seen on this trip:
Bald Eagle
Red Tailed hawk
Screech Owls
Turkey Vulture
Cat Bird
Brown-headed Cow Bird
The walk was sponsored by the Wellesley NRC and included among the guests were members of the Friends of the North 40, and Wellesley Conservation Council, which support the protection of open natural space in Wellesley.
