We got a first-hand report on the BC-Virginia Tech football game today from a neighbor dressed in his bright orange Hokies shirt at our street’s Halloween party. We congratulated each other on BC’s loss (hey, I went to to BU), but was glad to hear former Wellesley High school QB John Fadule got his first chance to play and acquitted himself well. Who knows, maybe he’ll get a chance to play in BC’s game vs Notre Dame at Fenway Park in November, setting the table for Wellesley High’s game on Thanksgiving Day vs Needham at Fenway.

Meanwhile, Wellesley High’s football team didn’t get lit up, but did fall in its home playoff game to Braintree by a 14-7 score.
On to happier scores: The girls’ soccer team beat Wayland 2-0 on a pair of Emma Ivey goals.
Earlier in the day, Wellesley High’s cross country teams ran at the Bay State Conference Championship in Norwood. The boys team, which went undefeated during its regular season, beat the field in Norwood today as well. The girls’ team did well, too, finishing third. Thomas D’Anieri won the boys’ varsity race with a course record time and Eve Driver finished in the top 10 among girls. Needham won the big pumpkin trophy for its combined boys and girls’ finishes (#2 and #1, vs # 1 and #3 for Wellesley).
