Out of the couple thousand pictures in our swell photo library from over the past year, here are the ones that stood out. Most were taken by Mr. or Mrs. Swellesley. But we get plenty of help from the many excellent photographers in town who send amazing images. Enjoy these pictures from 2023.

Menorah lighting Tom Ulfelder
Select Board member Tom Ulfelder lights a menorah candle in front of Town Hall as Chanukah celebrants  gathered for an event that featured blessings, singing, a choreographed fire performer, and jelly donuts.

 

Linden Square Holiday Stroll 2023

Wellesley Needham high powder puff football game
WHS and Needham HS senior women competed in wet weather at the annual Powder Puff game. The Needham Rockets enjoyed a 7-3 victory on their home field. The Wellesley flag football team was coached by members of the local police department for this traditional matchup. Photo by Darren Bovie.

Wellesley Eagle Scout project, Guernsey Sanctuary
Guernsey Sanctuary, protected by the Wellesley Conservation Land Trust, benefitted by the completion of two new bridges, thanks to Wellesley Eagle Scout Johannes Eikeboom and friends.

Mass Hort, Elm Bank, Tulip Mania
Massachusetts Horticulture Society put in 50k daffodil bulbs in the Trial Garden beds at Elm Bank Reservation, which came up in all their glory in April. Tulipmania was so enthusiastically received, that MassHort is doing it again in 2024.

Hardy School groundbreaking, Wellesley
Hardy School students live the dream of throwing dirt on school grounds without getting into trouble,at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the 18-classroom, all-new construction project, expected to open in fall 2024.

Wellesley High School girls won the MIAA Division 2 Track and Field Championship title for the sixth time in a row  at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston. Photo by Darren Bovie.

The 2023 Wellesley Cotillion Committee
The Wellesley Cotillion returned after a pandemic hiatus, and based on this group pic, the event was a rousing success. Some 100 volunteers helped bring back the winter formal, attended by 625 students and held at Lombardo’s in Randolph. Photo by Wellesley Cotillion Committee
