A handful of Wellesley, Mass., town government announcements:

Linden Street paving

The Department of Public Works will be paving Linden Street and the Linden-Kingsbury Street intersection during overnight hours on Monday, Aug. 17. Drivers and residents should expect temporary street closures and traffic detours.

Linden Street will be closed to all traffic from Linden Square to Wall Street. Kingsbury Street will be closed from Ayer Road to Washington Street, including the Kingsbury Street railroad bridge.

Residents will be detoured around the work areas. For Donizetti Street residents, D’Auria Way will be available for temporary access.

3 Bacon St. going down

Wellesley has opened the bidding process for the demolition of 3 Bacon St., a 1959 one-story residence that the town has deemed an unsafe structure. Town Meeting voted to appropriate $60k from free cash in the fall to contract for the demolition. A state law authorizes the town to demolish unsafe structures whose owners fail to respond to repeated requests to fix the properties or to pay for demolition of the properties.

Drought status improves to mild

The state has lowered the drought status of the region in which Wellesley is in from Level 2 (significant) to Level 1 (mild).

The Wellesley Department of Public Works has issued outdoor water use restrictions, effective August 7.

The restrictions include a mandatory limitation of outdoor watering to no more than one day per week for homes and businesses and a ban on non-essential outdoor watering between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. More details on the town website.
